Help Kids Behave and Learn
Help Kids Behave and Learn: Non-Drug Therapies,
Functional Neurology Treatments / Therapies
Brainchild Achievement Center specializes in treating
children ages 2 to 16 for a variety of brain-based
neurobehavioral disorders
and learning disabilities.
Neurological Conditions We Treat
We employ a number of drug-free
treatment programs and therapies to provide help for:
Childhood Learning Disorders
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) /
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) - refers to a pattern
of ongoing, chronic behavior disorders that have three core
symptoms: hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention.
Learn more
- Dyslexia - a specific reading disability due to a defect in
the brain's processing of graphic symbols. Dyslexia is a
learning disability that alters the way the brain processes
written material.
Learn more
- Dyscalculia - a learning disability that alters the way
the brain processes numbers and mathematic skills; similar
to Dyslexia.
Learn more
- Auditory Processing Delay - a disorder
in the way auditory information is processed in the brain.
It is not a sensory (inner ear) hearing impairment;
individuals with APD usually have normal peripheral hearing
ability.

Children with
learning disorders can also display behavioral problems.
These problem can stem from the frustration a child may feel
because they think they "aren't as smart as the other kids."
Often, when the learning disabilities are
addressed and treated, the behavioral issues tend to
disappear over time
as the child feels more secure with his or her abilities.

- Autism - characterized by deficits in
social interaction and communication, and unusual and repetitive
behavior.

- Asperger's Syndrome - similar to autism, however, children with Asperger's have average or above average intelligence, and develop normally in the areas of language and cognition.
Learn more
- Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD) - a group of conditions that involve delays in the development of many basic skills, most notably the ability to socialize with others, to communicate and to use imagination.
Learn more
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) - characterized by obsessive thoughts and compulsive actions, such as cleaning, checking, counting,
touching or hoarding. OCD is a potentially disabling condition that can persist throughout a person's life.
Learn more
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) - as many as one-third to one-half of all children with ADHD have oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). These children are often disobedient and have outbursts of temper.
Learn more
- Tourette's Syndrome - a tic disorder characterized by the
presence of chronic vocal and motor tics, and is somewhat more common in people with ADHD, OCD, or an autistic spectrum disorder than in the general population.

Functional Neurology
is a brain-based treatment program that can provide an
effective treatment
program to help reduce or eliminate symptoms of behavioral disorders, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD,) and
improve a child's performance, without the use of potentially
harmful medications.
